ADB seeks cooperation with ACU

Asian Development Bank (ADB) seeks cooperation with Cambodia’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to fight against corruption in projects that ADB funds. In a meeting Saturday between Nuon Sothimon, ACU’s department chief of juridical affairs and Lorraine Wang-Reyes, ADB’s principal integrity specialist, they discussed cooperation in combating graft and the ability of the ACU to issue arrests. “ADB would like to cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Unit, and in cases there is corruption in the framework of ADB aids, we will send the case to the unit to open an investigation,” said Lorraine Wang-Reyes. “ADB has a bureau for combating graft and integrity, which can inspect all projects funded by ADB, but ADB doesn’t have power to arrest anyone other than punishing them by delaying the aids.” …
